Technical Details
The Zeitwerk was unveiled at A. Lange & Söhne in 2009. The face of the watch with jumping hours and minutes and a power reserve display has not changed in more than ten years. The only changes have to do with some additions, variations and complications that were already present on the face of the Zeitwerk. I think of the Zeitwerk Striking Time, for example, which we highlighted through a comparison with luthier Alexis Péan.
But we still find our small central face with the readings for the hours, minutes and the "big" small seconds at six o'clock, without forgetting the power reserve at noon.
Constant force. You need to keep this in mind when we talk about the Zeitwerk from A. Lange & Söhne. You should know that, unlike the "classic" mechanisms, the Zeitwerk mechanism consisting of exploding discs is more energy-intensive. We only have to look at the original power reserve of the Zeitwerk to know this, and 36 hours. The power reserve is not so low when we think about these discs that are in motion every minute and every hour. Another "complication" that makes this beautiful little world run evenly and saves energy is the presence of a constant-force escapement, here implemented by an intermediate winding system.
How to tell you this in simple terms.
First of all, you should know that the new movement L043.9 equipped in this miracle watch now has two barrels and provides a power reserve of 72 hours.

A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Lumen Honeygold
In 2021, A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk is not alone. With it, there are new Lumen finishes and Honeygold dresses. The "Lumen" finish is not new for A. Lange & Söhne.
The first watch of its kind, launched in 2010, was precisely the Zeitwerk "Luminous". This piece presented not the black semi-tinted dial we have seen, but a gray semi-tinted dial and, most importantly, a case made of platinum. Now, the dark and luminous spectacle of the numbers on these three different discs has been staged in a honeygold set, with the diameter still the same, 41.9 mm. Exclusive to A. Lange & Söhne, Honeygold is the brand’s secret alloy that mixes fine, small ingredients with classic gold, making the alloy noticeably stronger than regular gold, but it also offers a muted, non-flashy tone.
